Dancing pineapple buns?

Not really. But both dancing and pineapple buns are among the top things that I'm looking forward to eat and take part when I'm in HK. Of course I'm looking forward to new experiences, friends, environment and so on... But I'd like to mention some other things than the most obvious ones.

Pineapple bun

Putonghua: 菠萝面包 (bō luó miàn bāo)
Cantonese: 菠蘿包 (bo1 lo4 baau1)

The omnomnom bun :)

We ate these when we were in HK in 2011. They are sooooooo delicious! You can read more of these delicious buns from Wikipedia. I tried to make them in Finland when I came back, but I just ended up creating buns which tasted like sugar and butter. They were ok (as sugar+butter+something usually is), but they weren't pineapple buns.

Hall life

Sport teams and different activities of the hall. High Table Dinners. Living in the same, small room with some other girl. Living in an all female hall.

I don't think I'll have that much problems with sharing my bedroom as I shared my bedroom with my sister until I was 18. It will be different now as the room will be smaller and I have already used to have my own personal space, but I think I can manage it better that people who have always had their own room.

I really want to experince the hall life as locals do and that would mean to participate in many activities. Basketball games should be during the spring season, so I think I will try to join the team. I don't really know how they choose the people for the teams and would I have time to participate in two teams or so (see the dancing below). I don't even know if I'll be good enough, but we'll see about that.

I'm also waiting for the Joint Hall Mass Dance. Although I have danced for 9 year when I was a kid, I'm not a good dancer. But I hope I'll be good enough to be accepted as a part of my hall's dancing team as it looks fun and seems to be really popular there. Below you can watch the performances of 2012.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year in HK? Definitely an experience to wait for. This year it will be on 20th February and next year will be the year of the Snake. Make a wild guess who has been born in the year of the snake? :) From celebrities it seems that Audrey Hepburn was a snake too and as me a wood snake...

Unfortunately it seems that one's own zodiac sign year is not that good thing and usually it's really unlucky one... Unless you do this and that on new year and wear something red. Well, there's not really that much information about it on the internet with a quick search, so my knowledge about this is based on only few short articles. Apparently it's a good one after all. :)

-------

What will I be missing when in HK? Besides friends and family. I think it will be Finnish food, especially rye bread. I love it and I don't think I can get anything even near to it in HK. If you come to see me, please bring some Ruispalat with you. :) Maybe I should eat "HK sininen" -sausage with the bread as it would suit the theme. Ahaha, what a lame joke indeed...

Then there's also some special treats of the spring season, for example Runebergin torttu and Mignon egg...

I have also asked my grandma to make me meatballs and smashed potatos (muusi&soosi) before I go and begin my noodles&rice -diet. :)
