May I represent to you my hall, Lady Ho Tung Hall! :) Only about 10mins away from campus by walking and just outside the hall is a bus stop for buses going to both Kowloon and Central.
Lots of pictures coming! You have been warned. :)
Some background first. Taken from
Lady Ho Tung Hall's webpage:
"Lady Ho Tung Hall (known as LHT for short) is renowned as one of the
four traditional halls of the University of Hong Kong. The only female
residential hall since 1951, our hall takes pride in our established
traditions and fine hall education, passed on from one generation to
the next."
"Lady Ho Tung Hall was established in 1951, a few years after World
War II, when Sir Ho Tung donated one million dollars to the University
of Hong Kong in memory of his first wife, Lady Margaret Ho Tung, who
passed away in 1943."
As HKU needed more places in halls, LHT was rebuild. The new hall was opened in 2001 and it offers places to 404 students.

Lifts
There are two lifts in the hall and their walls are one of the main means of promoting events and other things.

| When taking these pictures, I found an announcement of the first High Table Dinner. Exciting! |
Floor 10, my floor :)
Hall is nothing fancy, but nice and clean as I said earlier. As you see in the picture below, our room is the only one shaped differently. Rooms 1005 and 1006 are single rooms and other rooms are each for two persons.
Have met many people of my floor and they are all so nice! :) Our floor has it's own Facebook- and WhatsApp-group, though WhatsApp seems to be the one everyone uses. People usually hang out /eat in the pantry during the late evening, when everyone's done with their training and lectures. We also have our own floor hoodie and I also got one! :)
Couldn't take good pictures of showers and bathroom, but they are clean and ok. Not even sure if you would be interested in pictures of toilets. :D
Edit: Actually it's apparently not normal for a floor to have two fridge/freezers. Most of the floors only have one and I was thinking that with two fridges we don't have enough space...

Room 1013, our room
I'm sharing my bedroom with another girl, Alison, who is a local student. She came back from her vacation on 16th and is a really nice person. :) And also as she came back I noticed I actually have a lamp over my desk. Hadn't noticed it before and was planning to buy a lamp. Just how blind can I be? :D

| The view from room. |
 |
| My side of the room. It was kind of hard to take these pictures since the rooms aren't super big. Alison's side of the room is just a mirrored version of mine. The door is on the right. |
 |
| My Cantonese book! |
 |
| Photo of the socket (+my adaptor)... but I am an electrical engineer so of course! They have switches and the left one is on, right is off. Always forgot to switch it on! :D |
Kuinka sä uskallat asua noin korkeella?! Mä näkisin varmaan joka yö tulipalo-painajaisia...
ReplyDeleteTäältä on hyvät näköalat. ;) Mut oikeesti ei sitä oikeestaan ees tuu aateltua, että monennessako kerroksessa sitä oikein asuu. :)
